Course Breakdown

Here is what we will learn in this course in-detail.
Section 1

Intro to Houdini

Introduction to Houdini. We will get to know Houdini's UI, navigation, proper project setup, and what are contexts in Houdini.
Section 2

Introduction to RBD

This is where we will take our first step with RBD simulations. We will learn how to input our geometry into RBD simulation, object and solver settings, and render out our result using Solaris and Karma.
Section 3

Statue Crumbling

In this section we will learn about constraints. How to create them and set them up in DOPs. In addition to that, we are going to explore how to fix UVs, USD vs BGEO, and MaterialX shaders.
Section 4

Rebar Concrete Wall

During this project we are going to discover other types of constraints and how to manipulate them even more during simulation for art direction. This is where we will introduce debris and smoke to our projects.
Section 5

Glass Building

We will return to procedural modeling and create our first HDA that will generate us buildings for destruction. We will learn how to add custom impact force to drive our RBD simulation.
Section 6

Wooden Barn

Now that we know how to create RBD simulation from scratch using DOPs, we can take a step outside of DOPs context and learn how to create simulations with SOPs RBD solver.
Section 7

Procedural Destruction

We will expand our arsenal of RBD tools with faking simulations by manipulating the geometry itself. In this section we will dive deeper into VEX and VOPs, which are going to be the main tools for this part of the course.
Section 8

Conclusion

In conclusion, we are going to revisit what we've learnt and have a little review on those topics as well as discuss our future steps.
